I want to start by saying thank you! In just 4 days, InsiderRVA has had 2,000+ visitors and I really could not be more grateful for all your support. I’m more determined than ever to keep improving the site and providing the community with the information they deserve.

With this first update I want to focus on addressing topics that came up the most on Reddit and in emails, starting with the most popular one…

Expansion

There have been many suggestions/questions about expansion and I hear all of you. I’d love to expand to the rest of Virginia, the east coast, or even the whole country, but only when the time is right.

I understand that there’s always a sense of urgency when it comes to new projects, but no matter how fast we go InsiderRVA won’t be the first apartments website. The goal isn't speed, it's a real renter-first, transparent, and informative website. This makes it harder to scale, but it’s also what makes this project worthwhile and special.

One day InsiderRVA will be fully self-sufficient and profitable, and I’ll be ready to reinvest any profit/resources into scaling, whether it takes 2 months or 2 years.

Funding

My goal is to fund InsiderRVA only through resources that help renters. I reached out to the best local moving companies to see if any would be interested in partnering, so now I’m just waiting to hear back. If you or anyone you know has connections to highly rated local movers or resources for renters, please let me know at matt@insiderrva.com.

I’m also waiting to hear back about a renter’s insurance partner (which I’m very hopeful about).

BUT in the meantime, you guys have come through! Thank you to Alex and the four anonymous donors who have supported the project through Buy Me a Coffee! With those funds I was able to completely cover the costs of my LLC application, which leads to our next topic.

Legal

Over the weekend I was able to get in contact with a lawyer that is helping me cover all my bases legally. Everything is looking good and I have plans in place if anything comes up in the future. I’ve also applied for an LLC, thanks to the five generous supporters I mentioned earlier!

All review data is updated as of today and will be updated weekly(potentially more often in the future). Pricing, availability, and Reddit mentions will be updated daily.

What’s Next

This week I’ll be focused on adding in all the user-requested properties, developing new features, and securing funding. Next week I’ll go over all the properties that were added, detail all the new features, and any other updates. Stay tuned!
